Probably the finest painting ever done by James Dean and the last painting he did before his death at age 25. Dean was a talented artist who worked in watercolors, pen and ink, gouaches and sculptures. Of course his acting career is legendary, but now see why his artwork is considered so valuable and sort after. This "Portrait of Billy Gunn" is noteworthy for many reasons but foremost is the fact that Billy was Dean's best friend, roommate and acting partner. The original painting was a gift to Billy Gunn and remains with his family to this day.
